I guess what I am getting at, is I hope the player will continue to be surprised the further they travel. If an Extinct Naga empire is only to be seen across an ocean 50 miles away. If I can only find, say a vampire lord's manor 10 miles from my starting location, then I have more incentive to go explore - if I can only find an overrun dwarven fortress 30 miles away from my location, then I have even more reason to go further around the map. Point being, there are only certain experiences and rewards the further one travels from home. You make a great point about similarities in our own world and culture, but if you live in America, you still have to cross the ocean to see France. It is great that a game world can be a 100 square miles, but if I can encounter the entirety of the game in 5-10 square miles, then what incentive do I have to go further? (again No Man's Sky is the best game I can compare that to). A Cartographer's guild that rewards the player with unique items or currency for "mapping" out new areas, or a special form of experience/skills for exploration would be wonderful. I hope there will be some system or resource in place to reward thorough exploration. That is understandable, and thank you for replying. This is my personal analysis of how large Wayward Realms' islands may end up being. A Large island will probably be the size of at least the largest island seen further in Iliac Bay west of Wayrest. It's so exciting that I can't find words for it :DĪs we may see on this image, the Morroblivirim-Tamriel map is barely larger than the very small island north of Sentinel. It's hard to imagine how large this game will be. it means that a very small island will probably be the size of Morroblivirim-Tamriel. From what I could interpret by looking at that comparison map is that since Wayward Realms world map is in an archipelago with islands of various sizes. And now, we're treated to a development update video showcasing some of the systems used to create the game's world. But then, last year, we got a new teaser trailer for the project. And that Wayward Realms will have the scale of Daggerfall. Back in 2020, we learned that OnceLost Games' The Elder Scrolls-inspired RPG The Wayward Realms wasn't doing to hot. and damn, that really blew my mind completely, thinking of how TINY these games are compared to Daggerfall. One of the Wayward Realms devs showed me on Discord an image that compared Daggerfall map with the whole Tamriel of the It is quite unfortunate that the AAA-industry dropped this due to making the game more mainstream (looking at you, Skyrim!).
